Bowen kick-started his career at WCTI in New Bern after graduating from college. He worked the bureau in Jacksonville and covered Camp Lejeune. Growing up in Eastern North Carolina, he got used to evacuating during hurricanes. Now, as a reporter, he has been in the middle of storms four times as hurricanes swept across North Carolina during his first year on the job.
Following his time in New Bern, Bowen spent almost 13 years working at WLOS in Asheville. He began in the bureau in Waynesville before moving to Asheville as a reporter and anchor.
From Ashville, Bowen headed to the Pacific Northwest as a reporter and anchor at KOMO. Over the course of his career, he has received 10 Emmys and 27 nominations, including winning several as a writer and reporter.
