He then attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he received his B.S. in Journalism in 1991. During his stint in college, he was a student basketball manager for the 1989 Flyin’ Illini Final Four team. Ryan served on the Illini Leadership Council and was the 2013 Chicago Illini of the Year.
