Jacobsen attended Lakeland Senior High School in 2007 where she graduated with advanced high school diploma in 2011. Later, she joined the University of Idaho in 2011 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Digital Media with a Minor in Business Marketing, Broadcasting and Digital Media/Business Marketing in 2015.

At University of Idaho, she was deeply engaged in her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, holding a position on the executive board throughout her four years. Additionally, she assumed the role of President for the University of Idaho’s Panhellenic Association, the primary women’s organization on campus. Furthermore, she was crowned the University of Idaho’s Homecoming Queen in 2014. Jacobsen later joined Mississippi State University in 2019 where she earned a certificate in Broadcast, Operational Meteorology, and Meteorology in 2022.

While studying, she worked for Coeur d’Alene Resort as a server and hostess from May 2011 to August 2012. Around the same time, she served as a development therapist at SL Start from May 2011 to August 2012. Later from June 2013 to August 2013, Jacobsen served as a sales Intern at Sysco. Additionally, she worked for Inside the Vandals as a multimedia sports journalist from September 2012 to August 2015. While there, Jacobsen produced, reported, filmed, and edited packages for a weekly half-hour television show covering Athletics and News. She ended her internship at Idaho Public Radio where she served as a news reporter intern from May 2015 to August 2015.

Jacobsen works as a morning news anchor for the  5 to 8 am newscasts where she co-anchors alongside Ashley Carter on CBS2 News This Morning and meteorologist at KBOI-TV. In addition to anchoring, she leads KBOI-TV leaders in learning segment and a finance segment that takes five minutes.

She first joined Sinclair Broadcast Group in April 2016 as an Evening Anchor, Executive Producer, and a Fill in Weather. During this time, she served as a solo and Co-Anchor for the 11 pm newscast, and the main fill in for the 5 and 6 pm newscasts. She played this role up to September 2017 when she became the weekend anchor, weather anchor, and reporter. During this time, Jacobsen Forecasted, produced and presented clear and concise weather casts, which told a story and connected with viewers. Later in February 2022 she took the role of a morning news anchor and meteorologist.
