During his time at WPLG, he led the morning team during severe weather events. Before that, Padgett spent approximately two years and one month as the chief meteorologist at KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma, where he also led the station’s storm-chasing team.

Before his role at KOKH FOX 25, Padgett worked as a meteorologist at WVTV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from 2003 to March 2006, and at KVWB in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 2004 to March 2006. He also served as a meteorologist at WTTO in Birmingham, Alabama, from 2003 until January 2004. Padgett’s earlier career includes positions as a meteorologist at WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky, where he also anchored the morning and noon newscasts and hosted Let’s Do Lunch.

He worked there from May 2000 to September 2002. Before that, he served as a feature reporter and meteorologist at WPSD Local 6 in Paducah, Kentucky, from April 1999 to May 2000. Additionally, Padgett worked at WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as a weekend evening anchor, reporting local feature stories and weather forecasts. He also served as a meteorologist and weekend evening anchor at KFXA FOX 28 in Dubuque, Iowa, from March 1996 to April 1997.

Padgett is an active member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He has received several awards and honors, including the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society in 2006.
