Jackson’s love for the news developed when he was young. He witnessed reporters going door-to-door to interact with his neighbors, asking them what they saw after a big news story broke across the street from his house. Seeing the event as the coolest thing he’d ever seen, he realized journalism was the path for him.
Jackson first tasted journalism as a senior at the Historic Tougaloo College. Shortly after his internship, he secured his first job at 16 WAPT News in Jackson, Mississippi. WAPT News hired him as a photojournalist, promoting him to a fill in one-man band reporter just four months hiring him and airing his first story.
Despite having a big family, he was kind of shy, but was somehow comforted by public speaking. He credits his parents for raising him right and equipping him with the tools to survive in the “Real World.” He loves community service and encouraging young people to chase their dreams.
