Patrick has worked in the weather business for over a decade, during which he has been to almost all corners of the U.S. before landing in Central Texas. He has covered wildfires, tornado outbreaks, and blizzards during his career. Now, he is ready for the next weather adventure in the heart of Texas. He recently forecasted at KREM in Spokane.
While in the Pacific Northwest, Patrick experienced windstorms, mountain climates, and wildfires. He had the opportunity to cover a PNW heat dome in 2021, which led to all-time temperature records being surpassed, including setting a new Washington State record of 120 degrees!
Patrick worked at WICS in Springfield, Central Illinois, before moving to the Pacific Northwest. There, he developed his tornado coverage skills. There, he covered the aftereffects of the EF3 Ottawa tornado on February 28th, 2017. He also worked as the in-studio / on-air for several hours during a tornado outbreak on December 1st, 2018. That outbreak also produced the EF3 Taylorville tornado.
Patrick launched his meteorology career at KNBN in Rapid City, the Black Hills of South Dakota. In 2013, he covered one of the worst blizzards he has come across that brought 3 to 4 feet of snow across western South Dakota within a span of 2 days, from October 3-5. In the Spring, he experienced daily thunderstorms that would bring very large hail, with baseball-sized hail hitting Rapid City roughly once a year.
Relaying and recalling previous weather events is central to his passion for meteorology. He became interested in pursuing a career as early as when he was 5. He used to watch the lightning and thunderstorms while growing up. That love of weather and a devotion to the science (and math) of meteorology led him to college in Indiana.
