Prior to this, he served the KABC’S sister station WTVD/ABC 11 in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina as a reporter and an anchor. Plus, in 2021 he was an Emmy award nominee as a result of his reporting at WTVD on The Shooting Death of Andrew Brown, Jr. Else, the story amassed national attention.
Also, he received three Salute to Excellence in Journalism trophies, presented by the National Association of Black Journalists. He got the trophies consecutively in 2020, 2016, and 2011. Further, in 2017 he was dubbed ‘Reporter of The Year’ by the Associated Press and the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
However, his TV career debuted in 2006 when he served in Wilmington at WWAY-TV as a reporter. Later, he served in Columbia as a reporter and an anchor at Raycom Media. Moreover, while in Columbia he was rewarded with a local Media Champion Award from the Richland One Community Coalition.
Additionally, he got the award as a result of his investigative report of artificial drugs and their effects on young people. Additionally, he served the South Carolina Association of Black Journalists as president.
Via his reporting, he went to Florida where he broke various crime stories and broadcasted eminent court cases. For example, the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. Further, in 2015 his coverage of the Michael Dunn murder case was featured in an award-winning HBO documentary dubbed “3 1/2 Minutes: Ten Bullets.”
In addition, the docuseries analyzed the life and murder of defenseless Jacksonville 17-year-old, Jordan Davis. Else, he was Congresswoman Lucy McBath’s only child. On a side note, the film is available on Netflix. Also, Pulliam is featured in the film available on Netflix.
Furthermore, in 2016 he broadcasted the memorable opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. While there, he interviewed the museum’s lead architect and Durham native Phil Freelon. And, Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder. When he is not working, he enjoys physical fitness and traveling nationwide and Internationally. To boot, he loves exploring new restaurants.
