Before KOAT 7, Kurtz worked in Fargo, North Dakota. After graduating from college, he began working as a reporter for WDAY, the #1 station in Fargo. He swiftly worked his way up and began anchoring and producing the morning show at WDAY. Briefly after, he became a weekend producer and anchor and was eventually promoted to weekday anchor.
Kurtz was taken with the Land of Enchantment during his first visit to New Mexico. With no idea of what to expect in Albuquerque, he was hooked while flying in and seeing all the golf courses below. He looks forward to exploring more, especially the mountains and volcanoes.
