Ulises Garcia Education
Garcia joined Florida State University after completing his high school studies. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with a minor in mathematics.
During his time in college, Garcia finished two internships. His first internship was working as an SCEP intern for the National Weather Service in Miami, Florida. There, he dispatched balloons and took weather observations.
Garcia’s second internship was at WTVJ (NBC 6) & WSCV (Telemundo) in Miramar, Florida. While there, he worked behind-the-scenes with John Morales, Hurricane Specialist & former Chief Meteorologist.
Garcia was actively involved with the American Meteorological Society’s North Florida Chapter while residing in Tallahassee. He also delivered forecasts for FSU Weather, a student-run half-hour weeknight weather show on campus.

Garcia’s first on-air job was in Alpena, Michigan, where he was the chief meteorologist at WBKB for a year and a half. While still working there, he also provided weather forecasts for sister station WBUP in Marquette, Michigan.
While in Alpena, Garcia saw the wettest year on record for Northeast Michigan in 2017. Moreover, he forecast severe snowstorms, record temperatures, and several wind and rain events. He also experienced the four seasons for the first time.
Following his time in Alpena, Garcia worked as a weekend meteorologist and bilingual web producer at WMDT in Salisbury, Maryland, for over 5 years. There, he experienced many severe tropical and winter weather events.
Garcia’s biggest weather moments were covering the Blizzard of late January 2022 and the Bridgeville tornado in April 2023. He also delivered weathercasts for the sister station of Azteca in Spanish.
