Erickson has been a news anchor, executive producer, and sports director for over 35 years. He launched his career in 1998 in Joplin, Missouri. He then worked in Temple for a year(1993-94), Lincoln for 3 years(1994-97), and Lawton/Wichita Falls for 6 years(1997-2003). While in Lawton, he earned the 2000 Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Best Sportscast Award.
Erickson joined KXXV in 2003 as the sports director. In 2009, he left the station for KRGV-TV in the Rio Grande Valley, where he completed his sportscasting career. There, he was part of a team that won two Emmys. He returned to KXXV in 2016 as a morning anchor and executive producer, working there until 2019. There, he won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award.
