Reid is an active member of the National Weather Association, Baha’i Faith, and serves on the Diversity Committee for the NWA. In the year 2018, Reid collapsed mid-broadcast as a result of skipping a meal, that afternoon.

In 2022, his cancer began as a bruising area on his right arm which got worse than reddish and a bit scaly. It appeared to be a psoriasis patch, but it was not. He underwent a biopsy that determined he needed radiation treatment. He started his radiation treatment for cancer after he was diagnosed with a type of lymphoma of the skin, in June 2023. This was after he had undergone A PET scan which revealed that the cancer was on one arm and had not spread to other parts. Additionally, he underwent a biopsy that determined he needed radiation treatment.
