Wolff has been intrigued with broadcasting since he was very young, especially television. From watching old westerns, sports on television, game shows, or listening to radio broadcasts of Minnesota Twins baseball games, the industry has always intrigued him.
After his roommate took a mass communications class in college, Wolff knew that was what he wanted to do when his roommate told him about the class. After graduating from college, he started his career at a small radio station in Chadron, Nebraska, as a news and sports director.
In addition to broadcasting local news in Chadron, Wolff also provided play-by-play commentary for Chadron State College Eagle football and basketball games. He spent a few years there before moving to his hometown of Sioux Falls as a TV sportscaster.
Wolff covered late-night local sports for a few years in Sioux Falls and later became interested in advertising. In this capacity, he decided to accept a position with an ad agency in Sioux Falls. He got offered a position in the Creative Services/Sales Department for KFYR-TV. He moved to Bismarck in 1994 and has been here ever since.
In 2018, KFYR’s General Manager and News Director approached him with an offer to return to the air. He hopped on the chance after giving it some serious thought. He loves the responsibility of being on air early as co-anchor of Country Morning Today and North Dakota Today.
Wolff has dabbled in radio play-by-play of local high school basketball and football games. He has also been he radio voice for one season of Dakota Wizards basketball and public address voice of the first season of Bismarck Larks baseball.
