Tran serves as a reporter and anchor as well as a fill-in morning traffic anchor at KRON4. On joining KRON4, he started off by serving as the morning show reporter. Since he joined KRON4, he has managed to enclose several stories that hit the headlines including the collapse of the Macarthur Maze, the court appearances of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, the search for Sandra Cantu in Tracy, CA, and Barry Bonds’ pursuit of the home run record.
Prior to joining KRON4 in 2004, he worked at NBC Bay Area where he served as a news reporter and anchor from December 2001 till his departure in March 2004 in San Jose, California. During his tenure at NBC Bay Area, he enclosed several major stories including, the eventual arrest and search of Scott Peterson as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s run for California governor. From March 20 to June, he worked at KVVU-FOX in Las Vegas where he served as a freelance reporter and received an Associated Press Breaking News Award.
He had previously spent about 1 year and 4 months working at Orange County Newschannel where he served as a TV News Reporter in Los Angeles. Tran had also spent some time working at other stations including FOX News where he also served as a freelance reporter and anchor. From 1996 to 1999, Tran worked at KGMB-CBS in Honolulu, Hawaii where he served as a reporter and received a Society of Professional Journalists Business Story.
Prior to his tenure at KGMB-CBS, he worked at a station on another island in Hawaii where he served as a reporter from 1995 to 1996. He began his TV career working in Yakima, WA at KNDO-NBC where he served as a reporter. He went to Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication where he attained his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies.
