Smith once revealed that she got really scared about cancer when scans found something strange around her uterus. However, on May 23, 2023, she shared on Instagram that she was all clear from cancer. She said the biopsy results showed nothing harmful!
On June 11, 2023, Smith wrote a touching message to her fans on Instagram about her health. She explained that more than a month ago, she thought she just had a regular back problem like a bulging or slipped disc. She endured days of pain at home, taking Tylenol, crying, and even going to urgent care. With no clear answers, after more than a month of intense pain, she finally started to find out what was wrong. Smith had a CT scan and an MRI and was then told to go to Cedar Sinai. She thought she’d just get another scan on her back and then return home.
Instead, the doctors admitted her and quickly began testing her blood for things. Turns out, she had an infection in her blood that had spread a lot to the bones in her spine, called osteomyelitis. The good part is that she was in one of the best hospitals, and all the doctors and nurses were right on top of everything to find the answers and help her get better. They started giving her antibiotics to treat the blood infection and hopefully reduce the infection in her spine, which they initially thought was a tumor from an MRI. It looked like a scary kind, not just a regular infection, and everyone, including her, was really scared.
Smith mentioned that it was the tenth day, and she had a schedule for surgery to remove parts of the infection from her spine. The antibiotics she’d been taking intravenously every 4 hours for the past 10 days weren’t improving the situation. Luckily, the surgery went well, and now she’s doing fine.
