Lutz’s love for reporting began when she was a freshman in high school. At the time, she was assigned to find a job to follow for a day for a school project. Albeit bashful, she called a local news reporter at her mother’s encouragement to call the NBC affiliate in her hometown to learn about what goes into TV news. Ever since, she was hooked.
After graduating college, Lutz got a whirlwind of TV reporting jobs spanning across Montana and Idaho honing her storytelling skills. During her career, she won an Emmy nomination, multiple Montana Broadcaster Awards, a regional Edward R. Murrow award, and awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.
The once-shy girl is now comfortable with jumping in front of the camera for crime, breaking news, political stories, and investigative segments. However, her highlight came in September 2020 when she gave birth to her daughter in the midst of a pandemic.
To this day, Lutz’s mother still tells people of how she was once a shy little girl with the story always ending with her expressing her pride in how she is now one of the award-winning journalists for the Montana Television Network.
