She has coordinated big events in the region, including Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration, the 2002 Final Four in Atlanta, Georgia, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 2000 NBA Championships in Los Angeles, California, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
Andrea is well aware of the Central Indiana Culture and engages regularly in various organizations. Every year you can count on her presence in the Donating Gig of the National Health Fund, Cancer Advocacy Community’s Laughing Matters, Susan G. Komen Indianapolis Race for the Cure, and the R.E.D. A partnership that aims to eradicate inequalities in breast cancer. Such organizations are close to her when on December 13, 2018, she battled and won her breast cancer fight, “ringing the bell.”
From WOOD TV-8 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andrea came to WTHR, where she anchored the 6 and 11-weekend evening newscasts. Andrea worked as a reporter, assistant producer, and assignment editor for WXIN in Indianapolis prior to her tenure at WOOD. Andrea started her broadcasting career at Koppel Communications in Washington DC as a Production Intern.
While at Koppel, Andrea investigated subjects and helped producers in the making of The Koppel Report” for Capital Cities/ABC. In 1995, Andrea shifted gears and worked for the National Football League in New York as a Management Council Law Clerk. Andrea was a reporter/anchor for WGMC TV’s weekday evening newscast in Worchester, Massachusetts, between 1992 and 1993.
When coming to her education, she received her B.A. in 1991, Graduating summa cum laude from Howard University, in Communications/Journalism. In 1996, Andrea received her Ph.D. in Jurisprudence from Indiana University.
