Prior to joining FOX 2, he was tenured at ABC 30 News – KDNL-TV based in St. Louis, Missouri. Between the years, 1994 and 2002 he worked working as a weekend news anchor and news reporter. He had stops for stations in Dayton, Ohio; and Champaign, Illinois as a news anchor and reporter before going to KDNL.

Banker served as the stadium announcer for the Rams at the Edward Jones Dome. He was honored with an Edward R. Murrow Award, several Associated Press (AP) awards, and an Emmy Award. Additionally, he was named “Best Reporter” four times by The Illinois Associated Press. Banker went to Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville graduated from and then enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Later, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the university.

He is an active volunteer in the community, for example, he volunteers with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He formerly served as an honorary Chairman of the Walk to Cure Diabetes.
