Before joining WILX, she worked for Young Broadcasting as a News Anchor/Reporter for 8 months (September 2003 – April 2013). Before that, he worked for a CNS Affiliate, WWTV-WWUP TV 9 & 10 in Cadillac, Michigan for 1 year and 9 months (May 1986 – January 1988).
Throughout her career, she has earned a number of awards and honors. She holds an Emmy Award, which she received in the year 2012 for Investigative Report which revealed problems with Ingham County’s 911 Consolidation. Her work as a reporter and anchor has been honored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as well as the Associated Press (AP). Emmerich was honored with a Humanitarian of the Year Award in the year 2011 by Ingham County Animal Shelter.
