When it comes to his profession, Jones serves at WMAZ 13 News as a chief meteorologist, forecasting the weather on the 5 PM, 6 PM, 10 PM, and 11 PM newscasts, from Monday through Friday. He began as a weekday and weekend midday and morning anchor.
Jones started his career in broadcasting in radio when he was just 17 years old. Over the past 2 decades, he has gained a lot of experience in broadcasting. His journey began at WQBZ-Q106, where he took on roles as an assistant production director and midday announcer.
Later, he moved to WMGB-B93.7, where he worked as an Assistant Program Director and afternoon announcer. After spending some time at 98 Rock in Charleston, South Carolina, where he also served as a Production Director and afternoon announcer, he decided to return to his hometown of Macon, GA to work for WMAZ-TV. Jones is certified by the AMS – American Meteorological Society – he holds their Seal of Approval. This certification distinguishes him as the sole AMS Certified Meteorologist in Central Georgia.

Ben Jones Injury
In around January 2023, Jones was off the air for a couple of weeks, and his fans wondered where he went. He returned with an arm splint… turns out, he had an injury in his home backyard as he was clearing storm debris. He explained that he had cuts and bruises on his left arm, as well as a shattered shoulder blade and a wicked bump on the head. However, he underwent the necessary treatments and he recovered and he is now well.
