Meck is working for WLEX/LEX18 as the chief meteorologist. Since 2001, he has brought weather to Kentuckians with a mix of accuracy, humor, and education. During this time, he has seen more than 100,000 Kentucky kids with his Bill’s Weather 101 program which simplifies the science of meteorology.
When he was 6 years old, he developed the dream of being a TV weather guy. At the age of 20, he made his dream into reality, working for WOI in Des Moines as a morning and weekend weatherman. He has also worked in Roanoke and Indianapolis before he came to Lexington.
Aside from meteorology, Meck works on the advisory board of the Salvation Army. He also chairs the yearly LemonAid Days. Additionally, he annually works as a speaker at numerous clubs and service firms. Further, he has worked on local and state-level committees concerning severe weather safety.
Meck has worked as an emcee for many events including Lakeside Live, The Kentucky Rose of Tralee, the Lexington Music Awards, multiple galas, and fundraisers. He was featured with the Lexington Philharmonic. He worked as the voice of the Man O War Swim conference in Lexington for more than 10 years. Meck was also the PA announcer of Lexington Catholic soccer while his daughter was a player.
