Hanson is a proud alumnus of the University of Missouri-Columbia. He graduated from the university in the year 2012 with a Bachelor of Journalism (B.J.) degree in Radio and TV. During his stint at the university, he was working as the President of the Radio Television and Digital News Association.

Hanson works as a News Anchor/Reporter at KDFW FOX 4. Before joining the station, he was working for WSOC-TV Eyewitness News in Charlotte, North Carolina. He spent 3 years there serving as an investigative reporter. He exposed that a county wasted tens of thousands of dollars on a security program that was never implemented and shed light on a local gang with ties to the United States Military. His investigative reporting also led to the proposal of news laws. Hanson also served as a beat reporter, where he covered federal law enforcement and broke dozens of stories on Ponzi scheme cases, espionage, and terrorism.

Before that, he worked for Hearst Television WDSU-TV in Greater New Orleans for 2 years as a news reporter. That is where he got his first full-time reporting job and got bit by the “hard news” bug. He covered a variety of stories including the federal corruption trial of a former New Orleans Mayor, a power outage that plagued a Super Bowl, and Hurricane Isaac. 

Hanson has also served at Newsy.com, as a writer and anchor. Also, he worked for KOMU 8 & Mid-Missouri CW for about 3 and a half years as a Reporter, Anchor, and Producer. Hanson has also worked for Zimmer Radio Group as a Board Operator and Weekend Personality. He spent 1 year and 10 months there.

Hanson’s passion for journalism began when he was in high school when he watched the work of great writers such as Steve Hartman, Boyd Huppert, and Bob Dotson.
