During his stint at Emerson College, he was a Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a Resident Assistant. He pitched for 4 years in Division-III Baseball and was part of the Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL). Additionally, Kolb was working for WEBN Sports and ETIN Radio. He holds honors that he received during his stint at college. In the year 2012, he was named Emerson College Pitcher of the Year. From 2009 to 2012, he was a GNAC Academic-All Conference Player. Kolb works as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at KDFW FOX 4. Before joining the station, he was working for KOKI-TV FOX23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He spent 3 years there working as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. Before that, he was in Providence, Rhode Island, working for WJAR-TV as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He stayed there for 2 years. Kolb worked for WEEI Sports Radio Network in Providence, Rhode Island before going to WJAR. He spent 7 months there working as a Host of Southern New England Sports Saturday, a two-hour morning program. 

After graduating from college, he got his first job as a video storyteller and sports writer at a small-town newspaper in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. From there, he went to work for WBKB-TV 11 in Alpena, Michigan as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He stayed there for half a year. After that, he now joined WEEI.

Throughout his career, Kolb has had many opportunities to tell sports stories at the youth, recreational, college, high school, and pro levels. He has been honored with multiple awards including an Edward R. Murrow regional award. This was for best sports reporting following an investigative story on how 2 football teams used helmet sensor technology to make the game safer. Kolb holds the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters award for best feature reporting. This was a report on the story of a woman who donated a kidney to Billy Gillespie, a prominent college basketball coach, and Texan.

During his leisure, he likes cooking and eating, playing basketball, baseball, and tennis, spending time with his friends and family, and traveling.

Kolb serves at KDFW FOX 4 in Dallas/Fort Worth, North Texas as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He often hosts and co-hosts the station’s nightly half-hour sports show, Free4All. Also, he anchors the FOX 4’s more traditional weekend sportscasts. In addition to his roles, he travels to report on the Dallas Cowboys and tell enterprise sports feature stories.

In March of 2020, Kolb helmed the reporting on the historic shutdown of the sports world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He reported on several key moments of leagues and teams returning to action. He covered the opening of a neutral site World Series at Globe Life Field with fans and Texas Ranger’s brand new ballpark without fans. Also, he did a report on the PGA holding its first event back in Fort Worth, and a high school and college football season weathering constant cancellations and postponements.

Kolb also reported on FC Dallas being sent home from the MLS is Back Tournament following a COVID-19 outbreak and an unprecedented NFL Draft and Cowboys season with fans allowed inside AT&T Stadium. Additionally, Kolb covered the historic NHL and NBA bubble seasons including virtual reporting on the Dallas Stars’ run to the Stanley Cup Final.
