Edwards has won over 100 awards for his work, including eight consecutive regional Emmy Awards for News Writing from 2003 to 2010. He has received nine Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including three for Excellence in Writing at WBBM in 2013, 2019, and 2020. ‘Being Hosed,’ his exposé on Chicago’s broken water billing scheme, won Emmy awards in 2019 and 2020, as well as the RTDNA / NEFE Award for Personal Finance Reporting in 2020.

His reforms have resulted in new laws and convictions, as well as the reunification of families and the release of a woman serving a 50-year sentence for a crime she did not commit.
