He is also a CBS 2 Investigator along with Pam Zekman, Dorothy Tucker, Dave Savini, Dana Kozlov, and Megan Hickey. Before joining CBS 2 in 2012, he reported in Detroit, Indianapolis, Lansing, Mich, and Grand Rapids, Mich. At each station, Edwards was named Reporter of the Year by the Associated Press.
He has served as an adjunct professor at Columbia College of Chicago. Edwards is on the board of directors at the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, and he serves as CBS 2’s SAG-AFTRA steward. Edwards’ work has led to new policies, and prosecutions; it has helped free a woman serving a 50-year prison sentence for a crime she didn’t commit and reunited families. In Detroit, his year-long exposé into the Wayne County morgue led to the burial of dozens of indigent souls, and the fast-tracking of funding for a massive facility expansion.
His work has netted more than 100 awards including eight consecutive regional Emmy Awards for News Writing [2003-’10]. Edwards has also won nine Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including three at WBBM for Excellence in Writing – 2013, 2019 & 2020. Additionally, Edwards has won six regional Emmy awards in 2019, including Best Investigative News Report and Best Hard News Report. When coming to his education, Edwards attended Michigan State University where he graduated in 2001.
