Brent Cameron Career

Cameron is an American meteorologist who has been serving with WSVN 7 Weather Center for decades. He vividly recalls that it was a friend who had introduced him to the network. It was during that time that he realized that in South Florida, many local influences come together to produce tricky weather conditions.

Cameron began his forecasting career in western Montana at KPAX-TV, Missoula, in 1994, where he served as a primary weather anchor. He later went to WPTA-TV in Ft. Wayne Indiana near his hometown of Wabash a year after his tenure at KPAX-TV. Cameron spent 5 years in the Midwest monitoring wild weather extremes and tracking tornadoes. Prior to the new Millennium, an opportunity arose for him to move south and due to this became his new home.

Cameron later in the year 2003 made his return to Indiana where he worked at WTHR in Indianapolis which is the nation’s largest weather team. It included a separate studio that sheltered the “SkyTrak” station that worked for 24 hours.

Here snowstorms and thunderstorms from Illinois to Ohio were consistently tracked down on air for hours. Cameron later returned to WSVN where he served as a weekend evening meteorologist. This was after he missed the warmth and sunshine of Florida.

Some of Cameron’s reports on his weather career included his coverages on Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and the “Indy 500” Tornado Outbreak of 2004. These coverages made a great impact that reinforced his respect for what nature is capable of.

Cameron makes it all worthwhile by helping people through the big events, as well as the day-to-day stuff. He is the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon former host who donates his time to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Cameron has associated with various events with the Humane Society and also is an avid animal lover. Currently, he is a proud member of the National Weather Association. He currently hosts the weekend evenings weather forecasts that air on WSVN 7 NEWS at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 10:00 pm, and 11:00 pm newscasts.
