Murrow award. This was after he reported the 1993 devastating floods which hit central Lowa. He also won the Quarton-McElroy Award in 1991 for his broadcast journalism endeavors.
Further, his excellence in Journalism made the Iowa Broadcast News Association honor him 15 times. He is a four-time Emmy nominee and one Emmy Award winner. Additionally, he has conducted multiple newsmaker interviews for almost 20 years of his print and broadcast journalism. President Bill Clinton, S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, and President George W. Bush are among Allen’s interviewees.
From 1998 to 2003, he worked at KSFY-TV covering the Tim Johnson – John Thune Senate race of 2002 winning with 500 votes only. Throughout the campaign, he filed the C-SPAN and CNN reports. Allen got a start in radio news as a reporter at WHO Radio in Des Moines, Iowa for the Marconi Award-winning.
Starting with that he followed to reporting at WHO-TV in Des Moines, KSFY-TV, KCAU-TV in Sioux City, and KASI-AM in Ames prior to going west to Las Vegas at KLAS-TV.
