Ritz’s passion for the weather began when she was just 7 years old, particularly after witnessing a tornado touch down in northern Darke Co. within her very own front yard. As a result, she began fearing the weather, and her meteorology career was ignited.
Ritz launched her professional meteorology TV career at KQDS in Duluth, Minnesota. She then went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she served KCRG for three years. She enjoys studying hurricanes and actually did a case study on Hurricane Sandy and its extratropical transition into a mid-latitude cyclone.
Ritz moved to West Palm Beach, Florida from Cedar Rapids. There, she served WPBF and broadcasted Hurricanes Michael and Dorian. She also won her initial Emmy award for the broadcast. Following her time at WPBF, she served The Weather Channel with Local Now for almost 3 years.
Ritz recently served CNN, where she broadcasted domestic and international weather such as coronation weather broadcast out of the United Kingdom and the record-breaking Super Typhoon Mawar near Guam.
Ritz is passionate about helping the needy. In this magnitude, she created and patented a new weather alert system for the United States and the deaf and hard of hearing.
Ritz started the Raining Angels non-profit to assist the disabled and handicapped before and after disaster. She feels blessed to return home and deliver forecasts for her friends and family. She is also happy to serve the station that initially accepted her and helped her grow.
