After that, he joined WPLG-TV in Miami, Florida, where he reported on the issues of Central America. He also traveled to Panama during the overthrow of General Manuel Noriega. In addition, he went to Cuba for a series on the Guantanamo Naval base.
In the year 1990, Granda went to work for WABC-TV in New York as a fill-in anchor for Eyewitness News this Morning. There, he was the first reporter to report on the air and on the scene during the World Trade Center bombing. He also reported the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in New Orleans and Miami. He then joined WNBC in New York, where he served as a New Jersey correspondent. After that, he now joined WFOR.
Throughout his career, he has won several awards, including 5 Emmy Awards. One of the Emmys was for being for his series on the homeless called, “My Home is the Street.”
