Before joining KCTV, Cruz worked as a News Anchor and Reporter at WFSB TV in Hartford, Connecticut, from November 2018 to September 2020, and prior to that, she served in the same capacity at KRGV-TV in Weslaco, Texas, from September 2016 to October 2018.
It was at KRGV-TV that she started her career officially. Additionally, Cruz worked as an Olympics Digital Reporter at KSDK – 5 On Your Side in St. Louis, MO, for four months from June 2016 to September 2016. She also served as an NBC Fellow at CNBC in Englewood Cliffs for three months from June 2015 to August 2015.
During her stint at KRGV-TV, Cruz delved into various issues like drug-related violence, severe weather such as Hurricane Harvey, immigration, and political scandals. Her efforts were recognized with an Emmy – Lone Star Chapter Investigative Report, “Honorable Mention”. Transitioning from her Texas roots to the snowy northeast, she tackled national stories like the Jennifer Dulos case.
