Kim serves at ABCNY – WABC as a news reporter. Over the years with WABC, he has reported on significant national breaking stories such as the Chelsea terrorist bombing in September of 2016. On the coverage of the bombing, he was the 1st television reporter to get live-on-scene. He reported on the huge spontaneous protest at John F. Kennedy International Airport in response to President Donald Trump’s travel ban executive order in the year 2017. He has also provided extensive reports on poverty in the Asian-American community in New York.

Before joining WABC, he worked for News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley as a news reporter. There he was responsible for leading News 12’s deadliest coverage in its history, the Metro-North train crash where 6 people lost their lives in January 2015. 

Kim began his journalism career in the year 2003 when he worked for NY1 News in New York City as a field producer and photographer. He went to New Hampshire and Iowa in the year 2008 to report on the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama, Rudolph Giuliani, and Hillary Clinton. Kim also worked as a co-producer of Eliot Spitzer’s gubernatorial general election debate in the year 2006, the 2006 senatorial debate of Hillary Clinton, and the primary debate in Andrew Cuomo’s run for State Attorney General. 

In the year 2010, Kim did an exclusive story about a woman who lost her life while waiting for EMTs during the “Christmas Blizzard.” The story forced the Bloomberg administration to admit the city’s response to the storm had been not adequate. Kim is a member (affiliate) of the Asian American Journalists Association. He also works as co-chair of the Asian American Journalists Association’s Media Watch Committee.
