Charlie has been working in the journalism profession since graduating from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2004. He began his career as a sports anchor, working at numerous stations throughout Alaska, and this is how he eventually landed his first job at KTUU.

In 2015, he left the state to work for the local NBC station in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he spent roughly five days a week in the Packers’ locker room. When he decided to switch from sports to news in 2019, it was only natural for him to return to KTUU, which he considers to be one of the best storytellers of its size in the country.

When he’s not working, Charlie enjoys showing out Alaska to his fiancee Leah, who recently relocated to Alaska from Wisconsin. They especially enjoy visiting Seward, Fairbanks, and, most frequently, Talkeetna, which are all just a short drive from Anchorage.

Charlie considers Alaska his home, despite the fact that he was not born there. Charlie Sokaitis, the son of a collegiate basketball coach named Al Sokaitis, traveled around a lot as a kid, living in seven different states but spending more time in Alaska than the other six combined.
