Maathuis serves as a sports anchor and director at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went to the University of Utah where he graduated. He started his broadcasting career at KSEE radio in Arkansas where he served as sports and news director. In this role, he was in charge of providing play-by-play for Harding University. He also managed to interview then-Gov. Bill Clinton.

Maathuis left KSEE radio and started working at a station in Salt Lake City for about seven years and won several broadcasting awards sports and news coverage. In addition to that, he was also the Weber State Wildcats in the ’80s and also managed to enclose the Utah Jazz.

Maathuis, later on, joined KIFI-TV in Idaho where he attained several awards for the state’s best local sports coverage. After some time, he started working at WBNG-TV in New York where he served as a sports and news anchor and reporter. During his tenure at WBNG-TV, he received the state awards for the best single sports story on Kentucky Derby winner Exterminator. During his tenure at WBNG-TV, he enclosed the Jets, Giants, Mets, Syracuse, and Penn State.

Maathuis, later on, left WBNG-TV and started working at KLAS-TV where he also leads the station’s sports department. During his tenure at KLA-TV, he has enclosed high school sports, Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, and UNLV, just to mention a few.
