O’Connell has worked for WTVR in Richmond, Virginia as a bureau chief and reporter for 2 years. Also, he has served at WAMU-FM radio in Washington, D.C., and WLYH and WGAL in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In February of 2018, O’Connell traveled to Minneapolis to do reports on the Eagle’s victory in Super Bowl LVII.

He has also been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as the Associated Press for his work as a reporter. O’Connell is an active member of a charity helping families of terminally ill children, The Friends of Alexander Deihl Foundation. The organization was founded in honor of Chris’ “Superman” nephew, who is suffering from the rare disease, Menke’s Syndrome. O’Connell is also on the Board of Directors for the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania.
