Orr came to Philadelphia in the year 1998, and she was the first female meteorologist in the Philadelphia TV market. In the year 1999, the Delaware County Times named Orr “Rookie of the Year.” Her work as a forecaster won her 8 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards for “Best Weathercaster.” The Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association also awarded Orr their top honors. In the year 2008, she was named “Best Weathercaster” in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly” issue. Orr was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia’s “Hall of Fame” in the year 2013.

In the year 2004, Orr broadcasted live from the cockpit of a hurricane hunter aircraft while flying through Hurricane Ivan. She has served as the official meteorologist of the Philadelphia Eagles and done live broadcasts from the 2008 World Series and 2005 Super Bowl. Orr has also provided weather updates and commentary for XM Radio, CBS Radio, Sports Illustrated.com, and ESPN Radio.

Orr formerly served as a board member of the American Meteorological Society’s Board of Broadcast Meteorology. She chose candidates to receive the coveted AMS Seal. Orr herself holds the CBM, AMS, and NWA Certifications in Meteorology. She serves as a mentor for the American Meteorological Society’s DataStream Project. Orr has educated teachers in the field of Meteorology for about a decade, so it can be added to the curriculum in local schools.
