She then transitioned to the news anchor of 6 o’clock newscasts in January 1990. There she worked alongside news anchor Pat Callaghan, Meteorologist Joe Cupo, and sports anchor Bruice Glasier. Glasier retired in the year 2012 and Cupo in April 2016, leaving Callaghan and Williams. Williams announced on her social media platforms that in November 2021, she would retire from the station the following month. On December 17, 2021, she anchored her last broadcast and retired.

For Williams’ work as an anchor and reporter, she has won several awards from the Maine Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. Williams started her TV career at WDAM-TV, the NBC affiliate in Laurel and Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she anchored News Seven and the ten o’clock news. She is very proud of holding the Miss Mississippi USA 1986 title and being placed the third runner-up in the 1986 Miss USA pageant, alongside other runners-up Kelly Parsons and Halle Berry. Williams has also been a semi-finalist in the 1986 Miss International contest. Additionally, she was involved with pageantry, where she hosted the 1996 Miss Maine pageant.
