In the year 2021, Izaguirre shared her personal experience of contracting COVID-19 after being vaccinated, in an interview. As an alumna of Thomas Jefferson High School, Izaguirre revealed that she caught the virus while attending a wedding in St. Louis during the weekend of July 24. While she wore a mask during the ceremony, she took it off during the reception. The following week, she returned to work for two days and initially felt great. However, on the second night, she developed a headache and ended up sleeping the entire next day.

Describing her symptoms, Izaguirre compared it to having a severe cold or mild flu. Fortunately, her husband and children did not fall ill. During the news segment, Izaguirre invited her doctor to provide insight. The doctor affirmed that the vaccine had performed as intended, indicating that although Izaguirre contracted the virus, the vaccine’s efficacy was not compromised.
