The Central Illinois native launched his career as a news photographer at the local ABC affiliate in 1976. He later became a sports anchor and later relocated to Toledo in 1980 to join WTOL 11.
Some of the favorite events Cummins has broadcast include the 2003 college football championship when Ohio State triumphed over Miami in Tempe, the 1984 World Series, where the Tigers clinched the championship, and the 1977 Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York with Charles Woodson.
