He’s written on how the Trump administration’s policies have changed the area and told stories about Israelis and Palestinians’ daily lives. He’s also dug up stories about ancient texts, secret agents, and illegal travel.
For a 2019 story that questioned the US military’s version of its raid against ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, he and his crew received an Edward R. Murrow award. Estrin has spent more than a decade reporting from the Middle East, including seven years with the Associated Press. He has traveled to the United Kingdom, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Jordan, Russia, and Ukraine as part of his reporting.
