Matthews believes that the part of being a good journalist is the willingness to challenge oneself beyond his/her comfort zone after changing the direction from culinary arts to a communication major. He loves being the voice for communities and providing a platform for people to express themselves and share their stories. Matthews is thrilled to see what the Piedmont Triad has to offer and what he can bring to the community table.
Other than working as a journalist, Matthews has worked as a full-time Housekeeping Supervisor at Hilton Garden Inn for 3 years and 11 months. He has also worked for PhillyCAM in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a Project Intern. He spent 5 months there working as a field reporter for PhillyCAM VOICES.
