Scott has served at KUSI-TV in San Diego, California as a meteorologist and feature reporter. His music has been heard frequently on KUSI’s Good Morning, San Diego. He joined KUSI in 1992 and retired in the year 2022. In his retirement, he stated that he retired to concentrate on his other passion as a jazz trombonist. Sunday, March 27, 2022, was his final day at KUSI-TV.

He is a perennial host of telethons for the Jerry Lewis MDA & Helen Woodward, and is also the host and creator of an animal series featuring San Diego Zoo Goodwill Ambassador Joan Embery, “More of the Wild.” The series is now called “Wonders of the Wild” and is part of the Saturday morning line-up of KUSI children’s programs.

His band, Monsoon, started a decade-long residency at Croce’s downtown Jazz Bar in 2003. With drummer Kevin Koch and bassist Mark Hunter, he also fronts Dave Scott & the New Slide Quartet. Burt Bacharach handpicked Fattburger’s rhythm section to play Some Lovers in his Old Globe production. Scott was known to sing as well though he claims this only came about through manipulation.

When coming to his education, Dave completed his Broadcast Meteorology Degree from Mississippi State University in 1997. The following year, he graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences with a focus on meteorology, and in January 2001, the American Meteorological Society awarded him a Seal of Approval in Broadcast Meteorology.
