Colleen Marshall Career

Colleen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pittsburgh’s Point Park University. Colleen graduated from the Capital University School of Law in Columbus in 2004, where she was awarded a Trustee’s Scholarship, was named to the list of deans and was a member of the National Moot Court Team and Law Review. In 2004, she passed the bar exam and is a practicing attorney. In 1984, Colleen came to NBC4 as a general assignment reporter and was promoted to anchor of the weekend news for NBC4 in 1987.

In 1992, she became co-anchor of the weekday news programs for NBC4. Colleen worked at WTRF-TV in Wheeling W.Va. before moving to Columbus, then as an anchor/reporter at radio stations in Wheeling and Weirton, W.Va. At an all-news Pittsburgh radio station, she was a writer/producer/editor as well.

In May 2020, the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation awarded Colleen with a national Gracie Award. For her outstanding investigative story, “Culture of Cover-Up,” which revealed the harassment of hundreds of young men by a doctor from Ohio State University over a span of two decades, AWMF honored Colleen.

In 2018, Colleen was awarded a Silver Circle Distinction by the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences’ Ohio Valley Branch, a recognition given to people who have spent at least 25 years broadcasting and who have made a lasting contribution to the television industry and its culture. Colleen won Emmys for her “I Want To Go Home; A Journey Through Alzheimer’s” series. Colleen had two interviews with President Barack Obama one-on-one. Colleen also talks on behalf of Central Ohio’s Alzheimer’s Association.

She was honored by the Columbus AIDS Task Force, The Buckeye Area Anti-Violence Agency, The American Red Cross, and Make-A-Wish for her community service. She was the opening speaker at Rio Grande University in Ohio in 2000, where she received an honorary doctorate. Currently, she serves as a Columbus Metropolitan Club board member and is a member of the Columbus Bar Association.  Colleen was a founding member of the Central Ohio United Way Women’s Leadership Council. She has been an important part of Make-A fundraising initiatives.
