Mouton is an active volunteer in his community. He votes on the Sugar Bowl’s Sports Committee, for the Saints Hall of Fame, and for the Heisman Trophy. In addition to that, he he emcees the Queen of Queens Beauty Pageant for the Louisana Association of Fairs and Festivals, and Over the Edge for Louisiana Special Olympics.
He went to Brother Martin High School and later graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in journalism. Mouton started his career in broadcasting sports, as an intern under Buddy Diliberto. He has also had stops at KEVN-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota, KVHP-TV in Lake Charles, and WEAR-TV in Pensacola. Mouton worked at ABC-26 based in New Orleans for a period of 11 years. Later on, he was hired at WWL-TV to run the Northshore Bureau in October 2006.
He was honored with the Master’s Award from the New Orleans Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2005. In addition to that, he has received 17 first-place awards from the Press Club of New Orleans including Best Sportscast, Best Newscast, and the Jim Metcalf Award for the Best Story of the Year. Additionally, he has also been awarded an Edward R. Murrow Award and an Emmy Award.
