Prior to joining ABC13, she served for KGET-TV, WSVN 7 in Miami, Florida, KNBC in Los Angeles, California, and the NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, California. Before, while she was working for WSVN, she won the title “America’s Sexiest Newscaster” in an online vote by readers of FHM magazine. Later, she was featured in the October 2006 issue.
She attended Cal State Fullerton and graduated with a Broadcast Journalism Program. She later received a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University. In addition, she is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. Elita received the Television Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in 2009.
Prior to coming to Houston, she served as the morning and noon Meteorologist for KNBC’s “Today in LA” since October 2007. Before working at KNBC Los Angeles, she worked at WSVN in Miami where she served as a weathercaster on the top-rated morning and noon newscasts since joining in August 2004.
She reported two of the most devastating hurricane seasons in current history. Beginning on her first day at WSVN, she started forecasting the 2004 hurricane season with Hurricane Frances. She donated reports for her station from the National Hurricane Center during hurricanes Katrina, Wilma, and Rita.
She was the morning and noon weathercaster on KGPE-TV in Fresno, California from August 2002 to August 2004. prior to that, she was the noon weathercaster and assignment editor for KGET-TV in Bakersfield, California from January 2001 to August 2002.
Loresca started her career as a news associate at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, where she served for the assembly of scripts and teleprompter operations throughout the newscasts. She as well assisted the assignment desk.
