Before joining the station, she served at KVUE in Austin, Texas as a sports anchor and multi-skilled journalist. She spent 3 years and 2 months (June 2019 – July 2022) there. Before that, she worked for KLFY NEWS 10 (CBS affiliate) in Lafayette, Louisiana as a sports anchor and news reporter – this was her first job.
She was hired at KLFY after graduating college. Despite not being a native Cajun, she grew to appreciate the South and everything it had to offer, including the humidity. Emily used to go to Baltimore Orioles games with her “PawPaw” when she was younger. Her passion for sports started there.
Baseball is her favorite sport to cover, and Cal Ripken Jr. is her favorite athlete. But don’t worry Texans! She also enjoys being on the football field. Her favorite part of working in sports media is hearing athletes’ stories, seeing them as more than a number or a jersey, but as people who have been through a lot for the game they love.
When coming to her education, Giangreco is an alumnus of West Virginia University, where she majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in communications. Emily is looking forward to making Austin her new home, and even more so to watching Texas football. She’s always heard stories about it, so she’s excited to see it for herself. When Emily isn’t at a game, you’ll usually find her outside with her huge, fluffy dog, LuLu.
