Brill is a proud alumnus of Plymouth State University. He attended the university in 2010 and graduated 5 years later with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology. During his stint there, he worked for The Clock (a student newspaper) and was the Treasurer and Former President of the American Meteorological Society chapter. Also, he was the team manager of Women’s Lacrosse.

Eric Brill Career

Brill serves at KMVT as a Chief Meteorologist. Before joining KMVT, he served at KXMB in Bismarck, North Dakota as a Weekday Reporter and Weekend Meteorologist for nearly one year (September 2015 to June 2016).

There he experienced wind chill values that were below -50 degrees. Also, he called tornado warnings before the National Weather Service. Brill also did some reporting while at KXMB but wanted to concentrate on the weather over anything else.

Upon graduation from college, he went to freelance on Long Island before now being offered a full-time job at KXMB. He has also worked for KJAC/KBMT in Beaumont, Texas as a meteorologist. There he was fascinated when he reported on tropical weather in August 2017, which dumped tremendous amounts of rain within Southeast Texas.

At the time, there was a landfall of Hurricane Harvey almost 200 miles away from Beaumont. While the hurricane was ongoing, Brill had multiple sleepless nights of nonstop reporting that included 2 shifts of being on air for 18 successive hours.

Brill also covered a new record rainfall for a tropical system in U.S. history, which was almost one and a half miles from his apartment. The record was 60.58 inches of rain and took a span of one whole week. In that view, Twin Falls would take over 6 years to get that much rain on average.

Brill has also reported on numerous historical snow events and severe weather (tornado outbreaks). He has been able to examine the forecasting challenges near the Gulf of Mexico. During his leisure, he likes to ski, and explore the outdoors. He anticipates checking out all of the falls and parks the region has to offer.
