At the time, there was a landfall of Hurricane Harvey almost 200 miles away from Beaumont. While the hurricane was ongoing, Brill had multiple sleepless nights of nonstop reporting that included 2 shifts of being on air for 18 successive hours.

Brill also covered a new record rainfall for a tropical system in U.S. history, which was almost one and a half miles from his apartment. The record was 60.58 inches of rain and took a span of one whole week. In that view, Twin Falls would take over 6 years to get that much rain on average.

Brill has also reported on numerous historical snow events and severe weather (tornado outbreaks). He has been able to examine the forecasting challenges near the Gulf of Mexico.
