Prior to joining KFMB, he worked at KMGH-TV where he served as the main anchor from 2014 to 2016. During his tenure at KMGH-TV, he won several Emmy Awards for reporting and anchoring. Prior to that, he worked at KSTP|Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. where he served as a primary anchor for about two years in Minneapolis.
From 2009 to 2012, he worked at KUSA-TV where he served as the weekend anchor in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, he had spent about 5 years working at KOB-TV4 where he served as a reporter, investigator, and anchor. He previously worked at KTTC-TV where he served as an anchor and reporter in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kahnert is also very active when it comes to helping out in her community and partners with Special Olympics. In addition to that, he also loves spreading awareness among adults and teenagers on the deadly effects of distracted driving.
He is also actively involved as an emcee, organizer, and fundraiser with MDA San Diego. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends. He also enjoys playing hockey, playing golf, and volunteering.
