Kegges serves at News 6 as a Weekend Morning Meteorologist. Before joining WKMG, he served at WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Virginia for 4 years and 4 months (March 2015 – June 2019), first as a Weekend Meteorologist (2 and a half years) and then as a Morning/Noon Meteorologist. While there, he reported on 3 EF-3 tornadoes and tragic flooding brought on by Hurricanes Michael and Florence. He started his TV career at KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota where he worked as a Weekend Meteorologist for 4 years. While in college, he interned at WTAE-TV Hearst Pittsburgh – Pennsylvania for 4 months.
Kegges has been passionate about meteorology since he was young. He used to be scared by thunderstorms that he frantically ran into his parents’ room. However, he always had the want to know and understand what was going on. His interest in the weather increased during the 1993 Blizzard. When he was at the age of 5, he recalls his father opening the garage door to almost 2 feet of snow.
AMS – the American Meteorological Society honored Kegges with the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in the year 2014. The CBM designation is the highest rating awarded by the AMS. During his leisure, he likes to check up on his fav sports teams: Nittany Lions, Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, as well as spend time with his loved ones (family and friends). He also enjoys going to his fav restaurant “Sweet Tomatoes” having his fav food “Mac & Cheese,” listening to pop music, and traveling. His favorite book to read is “Shutter Island,” his favorite movies – are “Titanic and Twister” and fav show- is “Game of Thrones.”
