Before that, she served at WPIX – PIX 11 News in New York as an On-Camera Meteorologist for one and a half years (March 2020 – August 2021).
She was an on-camera meteorologist for WNBC in New York before joining the PIX11 weather team. Both at WNBC, for the NBC network, and for MSNBC, she sometimes provided breaking weather news. “She also helped create and implement WNBC’s popular school-outreach program “Weather Kids. Erica was an on-camera meteorologist for WUSA in Washington DC, before moving to New York. This is also where she received accreditation from the American Meteorological Society in 2012 for her CBM or Accredited Broadcast Meteorologist.
Erica’s enthusiasm for incredible meteorological research dates back to primary school, where she would spend hours looking at the sky at lunch, trying to find the jet stream. She formed the science club in fourth grade at her kindergarten, and also taught first-grade classmates lessons on the solar system. Today, at PIX11, and off camera with the American Meteorological Society, she is pursuing this love for research on camera. Erica serves on the AMS Council, a role to which her colleagues in the Society were elected in 2018. She also served as a delegate to the 2019 World Meteorological Organization’s 18th Congress in Geneva, Switzerland.
Erica acts as a teacher trainer for AMS’s DataStreme Environment in her spare time, a service that helps science teachers to earn points for continuing education by observing the weather. She also works on the Environment Museum Advisory Board in NYC and was a member of the Children’s Science Center of Northern Virginia’s STEM Advisory Committee. When coming to her education, Erica is a proud Penn Stater, and as much as possible, she attends her Alma Mater. She serves on the Chapter Executive Board of Penn State NYC and on the Department of Meteorology Growth Committee of the University.
