Dean serves News 8 Now as a meteorologist. He joined the News 8 Now First Alert Weather Team in July 2020. Previously, he served KNBN, Newscenter1 Rapid City, South Dakota, as a meteorologist. During his time there, he broadcasted a number of events.

For example, the Summer Nights concert series, the Sturgis motorcycle rally, events at Mt. Rushmore, and everything in between. Also, he attained an even broader knowledge of elevation meteorology while there. Early in his life, he got a bit by Weather Bug and he was interested where he developed a passion for weather at a very young age of 4 years.

Working as a meteorologist is a dream come to him. He was much interested in storms but at the same time, he was terrified by them. When they come he would run and hide then come out only run again and hide again. That anxiety became an obsession, he was eager to hear the weather report on the television.

At the age of 12 years, he became a Weather Watcher at WLKY-TV, The CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky reporting weather during weekends. When he got old enough, he started storm chasing. He earned his Bachelor’s of Atmospheric Sciences in 2012. His first on-air job was at WXKU/WZZB, got it while getting through with his college studies.

In the course of his time at WXKU/WZZB, he reported everything from county fairs, to pool parties, news and also did the weather on the weekends. Dean began working as a Chief Meteorologist at KTWO Casper, Wyoming until June 2020 after leaving his radio work in April 2014.

The National Weather Service nominated KTWO as the first station in the state StormReady while he was working there. 4th July 2019 was his proudest professional moment when the tornado passed in Central Wyoming and Southeast. During the winter season, he is on ski slopes, in the summer season he is hiking or road-tripping. In addition, he likes spending his time with his son Mason.
