He explained that he began his career in the news business back in the early ’80s as a paperboy for the Akron Beacon Journal. For many years, he delivered papers in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, and Tallmadge. He shared that it had always been his dream to work for FOX 8 and that FOX 8 was the reason he chose to work in the news industry. He described FOX 8 as the most powerful news source in the state.
Before he joined FOX 8 News, Gabe had different jobs in the news industry. He was a Main Anchor at WSYX/WTTE, and ABC/FOX Affiliates, from May 2000 to October 2009. His career started as a Morning Anchor at KPTM-TV, a FOX Affiliate, from January 1998 to May 2000.
Before that, Gabe worked as a Sports/News Anchor-Reporter at WTOL/WUPW-TV, and CBS/FOX Affiliates, from May 1996 to January 1998. In 1995, he did a 6-month internship at WXIN FOX 59, where he focused on Broadcast Journalism. When Spiegel is not at work, he likes to post his “terrible” dad jokes on his Instagram Page, or root for Columbus/Cleveland games.
